Grandma’s Front Porch

December 29th, 2009

This painting comes from the memories of my own front porch of the days of my youth.

I spent hours and hours rocking and talking and dreaming on that porch…by myself or with my Mother or Grandmother.  The rocking chair is just like one of the ones we had.

I especially loved to watch thunderstorms from under that porch roof.

Our front porch was enclosed, so I remember going out there on sunny days in the winter and enjoying the warmth as I looked over the snowy fields.

In the spring my Grandmother brought out all her flowers that she had nurtured inside during the winter.  My Memère was a gardener till well up into her 80’s.  This painting is for her.
